It is low in oxygen and high in carbon dioxide 4 Tricuspid Valve - Controls blood flow from the right atrium to the right ventricle. Prevents blood from flowing back into the atrium. 5 Right Ventricle - Pumps deoxygenated blood from the right atrium into the pulmonary artery 6 Pulmonary Valve - Controls the flow of blood from the heart to the lungs and ensures blood flows in the right direction, preventing backflow into the right ventricle. 7 Pulmonary Arteries - blood vessels that carry oxygen poor blood from the right side of your heart, to your lungs. 8 Pulmonary Veins - Carry oxygen rich blood from the lungs back to the heart's left atrium. 9 Left Atrium - Takes oxygen rich blood from the lungs and pumps the blood to the rest of the body through the aorta. 10 Mitral Valve - Regulates blood flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle and ensures the proper blood flow when the heart contracts or relaxes. 11 Left Ventricle - The main pumping chamber. It is responsible for circulating oxygen rich blood throughout the body. 12 Aortic Valve - It is the main artery. It is responsible for ensuring blood flows in one direction, from the heart to the aorta and prevents backflow. 13 Aorta - The main and largest artery in the human body 14 Aortic Arch - The curved section of the aorta which supplies blood to the head and upper extremities. 15 Descending Aorta - The longest part of the aorta . It is responsible for supplying blood to the spinal cord, and organs. 16 Heart Muscle - The specialized tissue responsible for the heart's pumping action. Pumps blood throughout the body and delivers nutrients to tissues and organs.
