Extreme temperatures occur here. 2 The Taklamakan Desert is a large desert in Outer China. Its name means "once you go in, you will not come out" in reference to its extreme sandstorms. 3 This river has its name for the yellow color caused by silt in the water. 4 Has a more moderate climate than many parts of China. 5 Mostly too dry and cold for crops.
