Classroom activities can include games such as Taboo, Scattergories and Pictionary that encourage students to use vocabulary in fun and interactive ways. By limiting the use of common words, students have to come up with other words to describe things and think a bit outside the box.

Classroom activities can include memorizing monologues, taking part in simulations, role plays and the creation of skits, videos, commercials or other. In these activities students are encouraged to be creative and use the language in an extended format to get a message across and to communicate effectively. As in all aspects of language teaching culture is heavily involved here and helps to build the scenarios that students interact within.

Classroom activities can include games and role plays that encourage students to look at the context of a situation in order to determine the meaning of an ambiguous phrase or dialogue. Cultural knowledge is an important part of language acquisition

Classroom activities can include finding passages that contain relevant grammar points and leaving key words and phrases out. Students can work in pairs to fill in the correct form of a very or other words to complete the passage. Games can also be used effectively here such as an auction game where students bid on sentences, trying to buy only grammatically correct ones
