A cash crop is one that is to be sold to gain from the sale . The term helps to distinguish crops grown for commercial gain from the crops which are mainly grown to feed the farmer and his family with little left to be sold in the market . Most of the crops cultivated in the developing nations are primarily to the developed economies . Prices of cash crops are determined in international markets .
These cash crops are mainly cultivated in Central and South America , Africa and Asia in large or plantations with of cocoa , banana , tea , coffee , pineapples , soybean , sugarcane , oil , rubber , etc . These large plantations are usually owned by great multinational .
