One criticism of the biological approach is that it is considered . This is a weakness because it only focuses on the biological or physical aspects of behaviour rather than other factors . For example , it believes that disorders are due purely to or . Depression for instance is caused by abnormal levels of the neurotransmitter . It ignores the complexity of human behaviour and that other factors such as , individuals events and psychological factors might also contribute . in fact , research suggests that medication combined with psychological treatment work best .

However , it could also be said that it suggests that the individual has no control over their behaviour and we are purely who we are due to our genetics , neurology or biochemistry . This approach ignores the assumption of will .
Finally , another weakness of the approach is that due to its scientific methods , it individuals as being the same . This is a weakness as it is a approach . It ignores individual differences in behaviour . For instance , when considering treatment of disorders , it would give the same medication to all individuals suffering from depression . Furthermore , it generalises - Taylor found that it generalised that all suffer higher levels of stress than females and that females are more likely to reduce stress due to levels and contact . It fails to take account that each individual might be .
