The Giant Panda

The giant panda is a well - known animal which lives the mountains of central China . It is famous its black and white fur and its calm behavior . Pandas spend most of time eating , their main food is bamboo . Although bamboo does not provide much energy , pandas eat large amounts of it day . In addition , they eat fruits , small animals , or insects .

Currently , giant pandas considered vulnerable species . This is mainly because their natural habitat is being destroyed by human activities such as farming construction . As a result , pandas have fewer places to live and find food . For reason , many scientists believe it is necessary to protect them .

response to this problem , several organizations and governments are working to conserve panda populations . They created protected areas and national parks pandas can live safely . , breeding programs in captivity have helped increase their numbers over the years .
