A polis is a city-state comprised of a city and its surrounding territory.

The polis was the dominant political form since about 750 BCE.

In Athens, adult free-born men could participate; slaves and many others could not.

Leagues united regions or cities under a common federal structure.

The Aetolian League gained prominence around this period.

Greece revolted against Antipater and Macedonian control after Alexander’s death.

Diadochoi refers to Alexander’s successors in the empire.

Antipater’s actions reduced Athenian democracy and secured control.

The league dissolved, shifting Greek states to separate dealings with Macedon.
