Mixing creates new hues. 3 Secondary Colors Secondary colors form when two primaries mix: magenta, cyan, yellow for light; orange, green, violet for pigments. They sit between primaries on the color wheel. 4 Warm vs Cool Colors Warm colors (reds, oranges, yellows) feel energetic and attention-grabbing. Cool colors (blues, greens, purples) appear calming and expansive. 5 The Color Wheel Basics A color wheel organizes hues around a circle. Primary, secondary, and tertiary colors help us see relationships and combinations for harmony. 6 Complementary Colors Complementaries are opposite on the wheel (e.g., red–green, blue–orange).
