โครงสร้าง too + adjective = “...เกินไป” ประโยคสื่อว่า “กาแฟนี้เข้ม เกินไป ฉันดื่มไม่ได้” as ต้องใช้คู่กับ as … as เปรียบเทียบสิ่งสองสิ่งว่าเหมือนกัน enough = พอ → ไม่เข้ากับความหมาย “ดื่มไม่ได้เพราะเข้มเกิน”

โครงสร้าง as + adj./adv. + as = “...เท่ากับ...” ประโยคแปลว่า “เสื้อตัวนี้ราคาแพงเท่ากับแจ็กเก็ตตัวนั้น ฉันซื้อไม่ได้ทั้งคู่” too = แพงเกินไป → จะทำให้ความหมายเปลี่ยน enough ไม่ใช้กับการเปรียบเทียบ ใช้บอกว่าบางสิ่งมีอะไรที่เพียงพอที่จะทำอีกอย่างได้
