The and the Tortoise : A Fable in Song
( Verse 1 )
In a meadow green , where wildflowers swayed ,
A hare and a tortoise stayed .
He'd boast and brag , with a grin ,
" You're , old friend , you'll never win ! "
The tortoise would smile , with a patient ,
" Slow and steady , " through all his days .

( Chorus )
Oh , the race began , a fair ,
Between the swift and the one who'd dare .
Not speed , nor pride , would win the prize ,
But steady steps the skies .

( Verse 2 )
One sunny morn , the hare , full of might ,
Challenged the tortoise to a race , pure light .
The tortoise agreed , with a gentle nod ,
And started his journey , by God .
The hare zoomed off , a blur in the air ,
Leaving the tortoise , without a care .

Oh , the race , a challenge fair ,
Between the swift and the one who'd dare .
Not speed , nor pride , win the prize ,
But steady steps beneath the skies .
