Henry Fayol stated, "Management is to forecast, plan, organize, command, coordinate and control activities of others."

Management is crucial in all organizations, including firms, government entities, and hospitals. It helps in the best use of resources and leads to:
• Achievement of organizational goals efficiently
• Optimum use of resources
• Organizational growth and expansion

Traditional Functions of Management

The traditional functions of management include:
a) Planning: Systematic development of action programs to reach objectives.
b) Organizing: Assigning tasks and delegating responsibilities.
c) Leading: Influencing and motivating employees.
d) Controlling: Ensuring tasks are carried out as planned.

Fayol's Functions of Management

Fayol identified five main functions that all managers perform:
