He loves being the grill master and always makes sure the food is perfect . was helping him , making her famous pasta salad and bringing out drinks for everyone . She also made sure the little kids didn ? t get into trouble . My , Lucas , brought his speaker and played music all afternoon . He ? s always in charge of the playlist . My , Lily , was running around with our dog , Bruno , pretending they were on some secret mission . I just sat back and watched everything ? it felt nice to just chill . and arrived a bit later . brought homemade cookies ( the soft , chocolatey kind ) , and brought his camera to take pictures of everyone . He always ends up telling funny stories from " back in the day , " and we all love it . Then my and came with my ? Emma , , and . Emma is my age , so we talked about school and what we want to do during the summer . Noah brought his skateboard and tried doing tricks in the driveway ( some were impressive , some ? not so much ) . Sophie just wanted to be with Lily and play with Bruno . By the evening , we were all sitting around the table , eating , laughing , and sharing stories . It wasn ? t anything special or fancy , but it felt really good to be surrounded by my whole family . Days like that don ? t happen often , and when they do , I try to enjoy every minute of it .
