Objective & vocabulary

Objective: Practice discussing health problems, symptoms, and giving advice using targeted vocabulary.


Vocabulary: cold,stomachache,headache,fever,cough,sore throat,earache,runny nose,stuffy nose,sunburn,toothache,cut,cramp,broken bone,bruise,health problem,doctor,cure,treat,hospital,medicine.

Instructions

1. Students work in pairs

2. Scenario Cards: Each pair gets a card with a health-related situation (e.g., "Your friend has a high fever and a rash after eating seafood").

3. Role-Play:

- Student A plays the patient (describes symptoms in detail).

- Student B plays the doctor (asks questions and gives advice).

4. Key Requirements:

- Use at least 5 health-related words correctly.

- Give logical advice (e.g., "You might have an allergy. Stop eating seafood!").

Example dialogue

A (Patient): "I fell while skating. My ankle is swollen, and I can’t walk!"

B (Doctor): "It could be a sprain. Apply ice, keep it elevated, and don’t put weight on it. Go to a clinic for an X-ray."

Patient: "I spent all day at the beach, and now my skin is red, painful, and peeling. I also feel a bit feverish."

Doctor: (Ask about symptoms, suggest hydration, rest)


3. Allergic Reaction

Doctor: (Check for infection, suggest drops)


8. Deep Cut from a Knife

Patient: "I cut my finger while cooking. It’s bleeding a lot!"

Doctor: (Ask about depth, suggest cleaning & bandage)


9. Stuffy Nose & Headache


Patient: "I can’t breathe through my nose, and my head hurts badly."

Doctor: (Ask about fever, suggest decongestant)


10. Leg Cramp During Exercise

Patient: "While running, I got a sudden sharp pain in my leg. Now it’s hard to walk.”

Doctor: (Ask about hydration, suggest stretching)
