Following the transcription of genes , mature mRNA is transported to the for translation . It involves all the RNA's , which are mRNA , and tRNA . Translation is a process that comprises of initiation , and termination .
Prior to initiation , amino acids will undergo . Active site of aminoacyl - tRNA will bind the amino acid and ATP . ATP will release phosphate groups and turn into AMP . tRNA will covalently bond to amino acid , displacing AMP . The tRNA will be released by the enzyme .
Translation initiation begins by the formation of the translational complex . The start codon ( ) will bind to the small ribosomal unit . Aminoacyl - tRNA carrying will base - pair with codon AUG . of GMP molecule will lead to ribosomal unit to bind , in a manner where the tRNA carrying methionine is placed in the - site . The translation initiation complex is formed .
Initiation of translation comprises of three sub - stages : recognition , peptide bond formation and . During codon recognition , an incoming aminoacyl - tRNA will base - pair with a complementary codon in - site of ribosome . This step is important to make sure that the appropriate tRNA carrying the appropriate amino acid is allowed in . Following this , molecule will form bond between amino acid in P - site and the new amino acid in - site . The ribosome will move forward , pushing the empty tRNA into - site , which is eventually .
Elongation of translation is the repetition of the three - step cycles during initiation .
When one of the three stop codons ( namely , UGA and UAG ) arrive in - site of ribosome , factor protein will occupy the A - site , instead of the tRNA . The release factor promotes of the bond between the tRNA in P - site and the , thus releasing the polypeptide from the ribosome . The two ribosomal units dissociate .
