Explanation

Elements in the modern periodic table are arranged according to their atomic numbers and the way of filling of energy sublevels (s, p, d, f).

If the electrons of an element's atom occupy only 2 shells then the element will belong to period 2. If the electrons occupy 4 shells then the element will appear in period 4.

If an element's atom has one electron in its outermost shell, then it belongs to group 1 in the periodic table. If it has 3 in the outermost shell then it belongs to group 3.

Only 92 elements occur naturally, the rest of the elements are synthesized.

Because each element in the same period has an atomic number higher than its preceding element by one. And you can't have half a proton.
