We to eat dinner together several times a week . But there was a problem . My parents both worked full - time and they usually didn't to feel like cooking when they came home at night . So we thought of a solution . My whole family would plan the next week's meals and go for food on the weekend . Then I should cook dinner for the family a couple of times a week . ( That was fine with me because I wanted to learn more about cooking anyway ) . When we started this new policy , my cooking was really simple . For example , I just used to a pizza in the oven and make a salad . But I got bored with that pretty quickly , so I started to read and try different recipes . After a while , I even made up some of my own recipes ? and they were delicious ! For example , most Fridays , I used to try different recipes for lamb , with different side dishes such as potatoes or - cabbage , all spiced with different exotic herbs . Everybody to love it when it was my turn to cook .
