Life

  • Maria Sklodowska was born in Warsaw Poland on November 7, 1867.
  • Her parents were teachers  her father was a secondary-school teacher
  • She had 4 brothers.

studies

  • She finished her school studies and then was envolved in a student’s revolutionary organization, after it she went to Paris, and she studied in  Sorbonne University .
  • She hadn’t enough money and sometimes only eat bread and tea , and her health was affected.

  •  she met Pierre Curie, professor of the School of Physics. They were married in 1895.
  • The Curies worked together investigating radioactivity
  • She had two daugthers Irene and Eve
  • Pierre died in a carriage accident in 1906

Research,work and Nobels

In 1898  she discovered Polonium and Radium.She and Pierre won in 1903 with Berkley the Physics Nobel Prize for their work in radiation.in 1911 she received her second Nobel in Chemistry for the discoveries of Polonium and Radium.She developed the littles curies, x ray portables for helping soldiers in 1 world war.

End of life

  • She died in 1934 of leukemia, because of exposure of high energy radiation.
  • Nobody can see her office because it has radiation too.
  • she founded the Curie Institute in 1921 for researching in Cancer.
