Attacked a shark off the coast of Australia , a tourist thought his life was over . But then , miraculously , three dolphins came to rescue . They were the same dolphins he been playing with a few minutes prior to the shark attack .
Friends on a boat saw exactly was happening but could do to help . One of them said afterwards , 'If the dolphins arrived on the scene , it would have the end for Tom . We saw him trying to punch the shark to keep away , , but it was hopeless . ' The dolphins then turned up swam in circles around Tom , keeping the shark a distance . They also made a lot of noise slapping the water with their fins and tails . This scared the shark off and prevented it returning . According to experts , dolphins behave in the way when their young being attacked .
The dolphins continued to circle Tom's friends were able to pull him into the boat . They raced to the shore , where Tom given first aid , and then drove him to a local hospital , where he was able recover from his wounds .
This is just one of many reported cases of dolphins helping humans get into trouble in the sea . They seem to regard us one of their family .
