The Unbelievable Story of Matt and Bro Orange

In 2014 , Matt Stopera , a writer from New York , his iPhone stolen at a bar . the time , he was annoyed and frustrated , but he had no idea this incident would lead to an incredible adventure and a lifelong friendship .

A year later , in January 2015 , Matt noticed something unusual . he scrolled through his iCloud account , he saw photos of a man posing with orange trees . Puzzled , he realized his stolen phone had somehow its way to China . The new owner , unaware , was taking photos that were still synced to Matt ? s account .

Intrigued by this bizarre situation , Matt wrote about it on BuzzFeed , expecting to amuse and perhaps alarm his readers . did he know , his story would go viral in China . After translated and posted on Weibo , a Chinese social media platform , it was viewed by millions in just one day . Users were captivated by the mystery of the man in the photos , nicknamed ? Bro Orange ? because of his selfies with the orange trees .

A massive online campaign began to track Bro Orange , and within two days , he was identified . His real name was Li Hongjun , a restaurant owner from Meizhou , a small city in southern China . With the help of Li ? s nephew , Matt and Li started communicating on Weibo , the language barrier . Their messages quickly developed into a surprising and warm connection .
