She holds him captive for nine years. Calypso offers Odysseus immortality if he will stay with her. 3 A violent whirlpool. One side of the strait on the way back home, avoided whirlpool by staying on the other side near Scylla who ate 6 men. 4 A nymph/witch who lives on her own island. Turned Odysseus' men into pigs but then changed them back when she fell in love with Odysseus and slept with him for a year. 5 God of the Sun who is very protective of his cattle. Odysseus' men slaughter the cattle against his orders and all die. 6 A people who eat the Lotus plant, a narcotic. Odysseus' men get addicted but he drags them out. 7 Giant cannibals who eat part of Odysseus' crew and destroy all the ships but Odysseus'. 8 Son of Poseidon. He is one of the Cyclops (one eyed giants). Stabbed by Odysseus in cave and then tricked ("Nobody killed me") 9 God of the Sea. Impeded Odysseus' journey home such as when he was sailing home from Calypso's island because he killed his son Polyphemus. 10 A six-headed monster. One side of the strait on the way back home, used each head to eat one man totaling up to 6 deaths. 11 These beautiful maidens lure sailors to their deaths with an irresistible song. Odysseus tied himself to the ship and his men plugged their ears to resist the song.
