Articles :

a . The indefinite articles are " a " and " an " , only for singular nouns .
b . Use " a " when the noun begins with a consonant : a pen , a watch .
c . Use " an " when the noun begins with a vowel : an exam , an apple .
d . Use " some " only for plural nouns when you don't know how many they are : some pens , some exams .

e . The definite article is " the " , for singular and plural : the chair , the books .
f . Use " the " when you mention nouns again : I've got an eraser and some pens , the eraser is pink and the pens are black .
