Place the patient in a Sim’s position (lateral position with upper knee flexed)
Remove thermometer after passing one minute
Lubricate thermometer approximately (covering 2.5 to 3.5 cm) with lubricant
With the non-dominant hand, raise the patient's upper buttock.
Instruct the patient to take deep breath, and gently insert a thermometer into anus in direction of umbilicus 3.5 cm.
