The verb to be

THE VERB TO BE 
  • The Verb To Be is a really important verb. in the English language because we use it almost all the time.

The verb to be in the present tense (Affirmative)

In the presente tense, we use the ver to be to talk about someone's age, to say if someone is angry or happy etc. 


  •  For example: She is 19 years old. He is 15 years old. They are angry. It is good.

The verb to be in the interrogative form

In the interrogative way we will havethe following structure:  the verb to be + subject pronoun + question mark.
  • Other examples:  Is he a doctor?  Are they heroes?

The verb to be in the negative form.

To make negative sentences with the verb to be we use the following structure:  
  • Subject pronoun + verb to be + not + complement.  
She is not here. 
  • Some Examples: You are not my friend. Maria is not angry.
