Explanation

Weathering is the breaking down of rocks and other material. Erosion is the movement of weathered material. Deposition is the dropping off or building up of eroded material.

As you will learn about, engineers create barriers to reduce the amount of erosion along coastal cities.

A lot of people think erosion is the breaking down of rock and other material, but remember - that is weathering! Weathering occurs before erosion.

Over time, changing water levels and wave activity change the coastline.

If you noticed, the stip of land detached from the mainland in 2004, but then re-attached. This is due to changing water levels.

I would hope not! One year you might have gorgeous views, but then under water the next!
