Select one or more answers a In which ways a person could achieve immortality b That men are doomed to go to the underworld c That we should enjoy life and make the best of it Explanation 1 Though they ended up finding a tablet library, the researchers initially hoped to find evidence that shows the Biblical stories are true. The video made no mention of human remains. 2 Although Enkidu eventually became friends with Gilgamesh, he was not created for this purpose. Ishtar specifically created Enkidu with the goal to create a rival for Gilgamesh so someone powerful enough could stop him from sleeping with newly wed brides. Aruru did not make Enkidu to keep the dangers from the wilderness from attacking the city. 3 Though the Bull of Heaven ended up killing Enkidu, this was not the reason why Ishtar unleashed the Bull. Ishtar unleashed the Bull because she was angry that Gilgamesh rejected her love (Gilgamesh was afraid of getting cursed like all her former lovers), so Ishtar wanted to hurt Gilgamesh by destroying his city and his people. Ishtar did not care about the fate of Humbaba. 4 Though Shiduri did say that all men must die, she also said that it is important to enjoy life whilst you still have it, even though it will one day end. Though she did tell Gilgamesh where he could find someone who knows the secret to immortality (Utnapishti), she did not want Gilgamesh to continue his quest (she was reluctant to help him). 5 Though the story describes the attempts Gilgamesh made to gain immortality, at the end of his quest, he accepts that all men must die, but instead of living in fear of death and the underworld, you should enjoy life and make the best of it, like Gilgamesh dedicating his life to great deeds for his people.
