Secretary of State - Thomas Jefferson was President Washington's representative in other countries. The Secretary of State advises the president on what actions they should take when dealing with another nation.

Secretary of Treasury - Alexander Hamilton advised President Washington on the nation's money supply and issues. The Secretary of the Treasury oversees national taxes and how the government spends its money.

Secretary of War - Henry Knox advised President Washington on the nation's military. The Secretary of War, today called the Secretary of Defense, oversaw the training of the military and developed plans for war and defending the United States.

Attorney General - Edmund Randolph was President Washington's Attorney General and was responsible for enforcing national laws. Additionally, the Attorney General is the top lawyer for the United States.

President of the United States - Presidents are responsible for many different things. To help the president perform the many different jobs of the Presidency, the President chooses a cabinet, or a group of advisors that help the president run the nation.
