Wide mouth jars each containing a piece of meat were left open, covered with gauze or sealed. All other variables were kept constant.
Rotten meat does not turn into flies. Only flies can make more flies
Where do flies come from?
There are flies around meat at the butcher shop.
The presence of flies in the jars was observed and recorded. Flies were seen in the open jars, No flies were seen in the gauze covered jars, but were observed flying around the jars. In the sealed jars no flies were seen on the meat.
After replicating the experiment, we could publish our results by writing a scientific paper, making a presentation or creating a website
Only flies can make more flies. In the uncovered jars flies entered the jars and laid eggs. No flies were seen in the jars that were sealed or covered with gauze.
