It studies the natural and human dimensions of space in an integral way. It is very important for territorial planning to decide which areas should be protected and which can host certain activities such as roads, buildings or water treatment plants, etc.

It tries to explain the use that human beings make of the territory, through the various activities, and analyzes the resulting forms of spatial organization
