Just a few people knew how to read and write.

The Christian Kingdoms were ruled by a king or a queen.

Peasants worked the land and were the king’s or the queen’s serfs.

Trade was very important.

The cities had many cultural and technological advances.

People began to speak a version of Latin which was the origin of many moder languages like Spanish.

They spoke Arabic.

Every village had a church.

Agriculture was very important.

Muslims built great temples called mosques.
