A committee of individual experts related to a particular scientific area. Each makes scientific decisions on standards published in the United States Pharmacopeia-National Formulary (USP-NF), Food Chemicals Codex (FCC), and other authorized publications of USP.

Organizations invited by the Council of the Convention that collaborate and assist USP in its public health mission. They become familiar with USP activities through ongoing communications, inform USP about their actions and initiatives which may affect USP’s standards-setting and related activities, provide input on USP standards, and facilitate collaborations with USP, where appropriate.

A standing committee of The Convention, responsible for oversight of the membership’s voting process, developing amendments to Bylaws, and reviewing the rules and procedures of the Council of Experts and Council of the Convention.

The body that makes USP’s standards-setting decisions. Each member of this group serves as the chair of an Expert Committee for a five-year term.

A standing committee of The Convention, responsible for recommending new member organizations, removal of non-participating members, identifying and inviting Observers, and proposing resolutions.

These organizations or governmental bodies must each appoint a delegate to vote in USP elections of the Convention Officers and Trustees and the Council of Experts, and to vote on Resolutions Proposals and on proposed Bylaws amendments. Together, these organizations and governmental bodies comprise The Convention.
